Although technically not a neurologic problem, amputations are housed under Neurology because of Dr. Volshteyn’s expertise as a neurologist.
The Amputee Services Program provides comprehensive management of amputations from acute inpatient care, to pre-prosthetic rehabilitation, prosthetics, physical therapy, and equipment needed by the amputee

A multidisciplinary team manages every aspect of the amputee’s care. The staff and faculty members include:
- Dr. Oksana Volshteyn
- Washington University Vascular and Orthopedic surgeons
- Certified prothetists
- Physical Therapists for inpatient gait training to restore ambulatory function, and outpatient physical therapy to include use of the prosthetic
- Occupational Therapists
