Washington University Orthopedics has dedicated a facility for the treatment of two common orthopedic disorders - conditions of the cervical spine, and of the shoulder & elbow, especially the rotator cuff. The physician staff includes two orthopedic spine surgeons, three shoulder surgeons, and three physiatrists devoted to the nonoperative management of shoulder and cervical spine pain and disorders,

Patients appropriate for referral to the Cervical Spine Institute are adults with disorders of the cervical spine, including degenerative, traumatic, neoplastic and inflammatory etiologies such as ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Patients appropriate for referral to the Center Shoulder and Elbow Surgery are those with shoulder and elbow disorders, including shoulder pain or rotator cuff tears.

The 6000 sq feet dedicated space for shoulder and cervical spine pre-surgical evaluation is located on the 12th Floor of the Center for Advanced Medicine.
